  • organising an itinerary and travelling to meet with parents of Assigned Students to conduct at least 2 evaluations of the progress of the student in each school year and entering in the student record results of the evaluations conducted by the facilitator;

  • advising the student’s parents as to the progress of the student and making recommendations to the student’s parent on any matter that may assist the student in attaining a higher level of achievement, where necessary;

  • promoting home education and WISDOM programs;

  • annual submission and fulfilment of a Professional Growth Plan;

  • working as part of the home education team; and

  • supervision of an assistant(s) who may be contracted to assist with any of the above tasks that do not require a certificated teacher.

A successful applicant must:

  • be a practicing Christian;

  • have personal experience with home education as either a home educating parent or graduate;

  • attend a minimum of 6 staff meetings per year in locations including Edmonton, Calgary and Derwent;

  • profoundly value the parents as the primary educators of their child, and respect parental choice in education;

  • have a Bachelor of Education (minimum) and be certificated in the Province of Alberta;

  • be familiar with a variety of traditional home education curricula and resources;

  • possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • be willing to work collaboratively with parents, students, staff, and administration;

  • become familiar with the website of WISDOM Home Schooling

  • be comfortable working with electronic platforms, and capable of learning new platforms, including but not limited to Google Suite/Classrooms, Microsoft Suite, Zoom, Solaro;

Certificated staff are not required to be members of the ATA, but remuneration will be commensurate with the standard grid in Alberta, based upon years of experience and years of education. Staff participate in a group benefit plan.

The Gilbertine Institute encourages candidates to apply soon, as the need for orientation and preparatory work merits narrowing down qualified personnel before the contract commences in August. A mandatory 3-day staff Inservice will be held in Derwent on August 18-20.
