Job Purpose
The Gilbertine Academy, a ministry of The Gilbertine Institute, is a classical Catholic school that honours the theological order of the domestic Church by upholding parents as the primary educators of their children. The school provides a rich academic and spiritual environment, fostering both intellectual formation and moral virtue within the Catholic tradition. The High School STEM Teacher is ideal for a teacher who sees mathematics and science not as isolated disciplines, but as ordered ways of encountering reality—forming students in clarity of thought, precision, wonder, and intellectual humility. Subjects include Math 9/10, Math 11/12, Science 9/10, Science 11/12, Physical Education 9-12 and a STEM class for grades 4-7.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver mathematics and science instruction at the secondary level with clarity and rigour
Develop foundational STEM instruction for Grades 4–7, cultivating curiosity and problem-solving
Integrate faith and reason appropriately within the study of the natural world
Lead Physical Education and outdoor formation (Schola Montis) with an emphasis on discipline and resilience
Foster habits of attentiveness, perseverance, and intellectual honesty in students
Assess student progress and provide meaningful, timely feedback
Maintain structured, orderly, and purposeful classrooms
Collaborate with faculty to support a cohesive academic vision
Participate in school liturgies, prayer, and community life
Qualifications & Personal Qualities
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field
Strong competency in senior high math and science instruction
Experience teaching multiple grade levels is an asset
Ability to teach across disciplines and grade ranges
Practicing Catholic in good standing, willing to take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church
Deep appreciation for classical and Catholic education
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a small, mission-driven faculty
Proficient with digital tools such as Google Suite/Classroom, Microsoft Office, and capable of learning new systems.
Professional, dependable, adaptable, and collaborative.
