Job Purpose

Holy House of Our Lady & St. John, a ministry of The Gilbertine Institute, is a classical Catholic programme that honours the theological order of the domestic Church by upholding parents as the primary educators of their children. The school provides a rich academic and spiritual environment, fostering both intellectual formation and moral virtue within the Catholic tradition. The part-time elementary teacher will support instruction across upper elementary and junior high grades, particularly in history, catechism, and physical education. This role is well-suited to a teacher who delights in forming younger students in both body and soul—guiding them into a deeper understanding of the Faith and the unfolding story of history.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach history and catechism with clarity, fidelity, and narrative richness

  • Lead physical education classes that promote discipline, coordination, and joy

  • Foster a love of learning and attentiveness in younger students

  • Support moral and spiritual formation appropriate to each age group

  • Maintain structured and engaging classroom environments

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress

  • Participate in school prayer and community life

Qualifications & Personal Qualities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, preferred but not required

  • Experience working with elementary-aged students

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • Love for teaching the Faith and forming young students

  • Ability to engage students with warmth and authority

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing, willing to take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small, mission-driven faculty

  • Proficient with digital tools such as Google Suite/Classroom, Microsoft Office, and capable of learning new systems

  • Professional, dependable, adaptable, and collaborative
