Holy House of Our Lady & St. John, a ministry of The Gilbertine Institute, is a classical Catholic programme that honours the theological order of the domestic Church by upholding parents as the primary educators of their children. The school provides a rich academic and spiritual environment, fostering both intellectual formation and moral virtue within the Catholic tradition. The part-time elementary homeroom teacher of the Grades 3/4 classroom will be responsible for core instruction in a classical, integrated model (excluding math and science). This role is central to the life of the school, requiring a teacher who can cultivate order, wonder, and steady growth in young students during these formative years.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead a homeroom classroom with consistency, warmth, and clear expectations
Teach core subjects in an integrated and developmentally appropriate manner
Foster strong literacy skills and a love of language
Introduce Latin as a foundation for language and thought
Form students in habits of attention, obedience, and diligence
Maintain regular communication with parents
Contribute to the overall culture and rhythm of the school
Participate in school prayer and community life
Qualifications & Personal Qualities
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, preferred but not required
Experience working with elementary-aged students
Strong classroom management skills
Familiarity with classical education is an asset
Love for teaching the Faith and forming young students
Ability to engage students with warmth and authority
Practicing Catholic in good standing, willing to take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church
Ability to work collaboratively within a small, mission-driven faculty
Proficient with digital tools such as Google Suite/Classroom, Microsoft Office, and capable of learning new
systems
Professional, dependable, adaptable, and collaborative
