Job Purpose

Holy House of Our Lady and St. Benedict, a ministry of The Gilbertine Institute, is a classical Catholic school that honours the theological order of the domestic Church by upholding parents as the primary educators of their children. The school provides a rich academic and spiritual environment, fostering both intellectual formation and moral virtue within the Catholic tradition. The Supply Teacher provides instructional coverage for Grades 1-10 as needed, ensuring continuity of teaching and learning in a manner consistent with the school’s mission and curriculum. Subjects may include English Literature, Grammar & Composition, Latin, Catechism, History, Science, & Physical Education.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the Holy House curriculum and the Catholic, classical model of education.

  • Supervise and guide students during class and school activities.

  • Maintain classroom discipline consistent with school policies and the spirit of charity and respect.

  • Participate in the prayer life of the school community, including daily Mass and communal prayers.

  • Support the integration of Catholic faith and virtue across all subjects.

  • Implement lesson plans provided by the teacher or administration to maintain continuity of instruction.

  • Provide assessment or feedback as directed by the supervising teacher or principal.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, and administration.

  • Collaborate with the Holy House team to uphold a cohesive, faith-filled learning environment.

Qualifications & Personal Qualities

  • Practising Catholic, willing to take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

  • Teacher certification preferred but not required.

  • Experience in Catholic, classical, or home education is an asset.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively and engage students of varying ages and abilities.

  • Respect for parents as the primary educators of their children.

  • Proficient with digital tools such as Google Suite/Classroom, Microsoft Office, and capable of learning new systems.

  • Professional, dependable, adaptable, and collaborative.
