Job Purpose

Create a clean, orderly and safe environment by performing a wide variety of cleaning and maintenance activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Routine building and grounds maintenance and inspection

• Ensure facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, sanitary and timely manner in keeping with WHMIS safety standards.

• Maintain floors in a clean state by sweeping, scrubbing and/or mopping them

• Empty and clean trash receptacles and collect recycling; take trash to dump

• Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms

• Clean and service custodial equipment as needed

• Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and equipment

• Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department

• Ensure grounds areas are clean and orderly

• Setup/takedown chairs and tables for meetings and events

Qualifications & Personal Qualities

• High School Completion required

• No prior education or experience necessary

• Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred

• Must be reliable, punctual, and have attention to detail, and be capable of working with minimal supervision

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

• Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks

• Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work

• Ability to climb ladders and work from heights

• Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies

Working Conditions

Continuous variable-time, wage status. Some evenings and weekends are required.
